How to Write a Personal Story

In a story, backstory should establish and explain who your character is now. Writing a compelling backstory for a character can be difficult, especially if you don’t want to include information from the past in the story. To write a backstory, start by making a timeline of the character’s life and then determining the moments you want to explore further. Next, you should polish it so that it fits smoothly into the story and shows the character effectively.

How to write a personal history examples

The focus of this paper is to review a brief state-of-art of one of the most relevant topics of historical education nowadays: historical literacy and the ways throughout the historical learning is expressed. Several concepts are provided and characterized alongside the main research streams which point out the importance of academic language in order to enhance the historical and educational challenges today.

The main objective of the following article is to provide an overview concerning two emerging topics in the contemporary discussion concerning historical literacy, namely the development of reading and writing in secondary school students. By offering a state of the art of the field, we will try to propose a dialogue between some of the problems of the field and the most current findings of the lines of research and empirical work in the national and international environment.

What is disciplinary literacy? Briefly, it is a field of study whose focus is the promotion of disciplinary practices in which access, production and transformation of knowledge are developed (Moje, 2008). These practices have focused on the reading and writing skills of scientific and social disciplines, in addition to the way in which these skills can be deployed in secondary school education (Moje, 2008; Shanahan & Shanahan, 2008). An example of this lies in the use of concepts specific to the various metalanguages, such as thesis, evidence and analysis, which acquire particular features as a result of their use in each disciplinary field (Monte-Sano, 2010). These characterizations have been made in the U.S. school context, so they present many differences to the South American and Chilean reality.

The latter can be based on both real and fictional facts and, although it is a rule that is generally respected, these stories do not necessarily have to contain an introduction, knot and denouement.

Realistic stories are those that narrate everyday events or situations. They allow us to recognize them easily because they are plausible, probable and related to the reality we live in.

Before starting to write, we must be clear about why we want to or should decide to write a short story. Normally novels are preferred to any other literary genre. What is not taken into account is the time and effort involved in starting to write a novel, especially if we are talking about people who are just starting to write.

Therefore, to acquire fluency, it is recommended to start with short stories that allow you, in an easy and simple way, to plan the story you want to tell, how to divide the different actions that will take place or how to eliminate the parts that will be less important to the reader.
